Help moi?

I am fit - I run 3 or 4 times a week - have well-toned legs, etc.

But I have a big chest which I HATE and a fat back ditto and baby tummy etc can someone PLEASE tell me if there is a rapid way of losing weight specifically from your boobs and surroundings? Or even a slow way.

Well just cut down carbs, I wouldn't go mad.

For me, bread/wheat seem to really make me bigger, so I try to cut them out as much as possible in the evening, and if I have carbs at all I have potato or rice, and a lot less than I used to have.

purplepeony - if running is your main form of aerobic exercise, then you could aim to running quite a lot. I run at least 15 miles a week, as well as circuits and pilates. Plenty of people run 5 miles - tbh those are the kind of distances you need to look at to make a real distance to your bodyshape. By all means start at 2 miles - the OPs target of 10k is the kind of thing that will burn body fat and reshape (as long as it is not followed by a double crust cheese pizza!)

I find running about 1 1/2 before a normal meal time works best - I never feel hungry straight after a run.

"I never feel hungry straight after a run. "

Same her notyummy. You could wave a bar of dairy milk under my nose and I'd refuse

Haven't had a chance to read all the posts yet, but control underwear (no sniggering mners!) is great for a 'problem spot'. I couldn't bear to be without my spanx (great for tummy fat). I'm sure their is an equivalent for the upper body.

Easier than dieting anyway

MissAnnesley · 08/10/2009 18:07

Thanks acebaby but I'm also concerned about my health to be honest. Even though weightwise, as a whole, I am ok, where I am carrying the fat (back, stomach, boobs) are exactly the parts which are meant to be the worst for you. So even if I could get some bodytube to compress me in teh right places I still need to actually get rid of it!

I have also spoken to someone at the gym and they are going to do up a programme for me. I have always had instinctive distrust of those regimens which are 5 mins on stepper, 5 mins on CardioCloud (or whatever) and 10 mins on SuperShaker etc. But I am hardly excercise queen so perhaps I should take their advice!

I can currently run 6K and want to explode afterwards! Will try to push this up to 10.

Oh God...

notyummy, from your calculation, can you say how many calories a 13st woman would loose if she ran 2 miles?

acebaby · 08/10/2009 18:30

I wasn't thinking of the health implications [shallow]! But you have inspired me to get going on the old taebo.

Love the name by the way. There is a JoBettany somewhere I think as well!

acebaby · 08/10/2009 18:34

oh - forgot to say. You can find out how many calories you are burning doing different things here:

www.caloriesperhour.com/

apparently a woman of my weight would burn 19 calories in 10 minutes of vigorous sexual activity

MissAnnesley · 08/10/2009 19:07

Feeling any lighter since your last post, acebaby?

another vote for bodypump and boxing type exercises, don't know if they will do anything for your boobs but great for toning otherwise, esp. boxing type work for tummy.

pasturesnew · 08/10/2009 19:17

Also maybe consider going slightly lower fat / higher protein in your diet? E.g. protein shakes to build muscle?

pasturesnew · 08/10/2009 19:18

I am not convinced by low carb diets if your calorific intake is fine overall but I do think that low GI is sensible.

This site above is the one I use, and in fact is a great source of all sorts of running support. There is a British equivalent that is good to, but doesn't have all the calculators one.

acebaby · 08/10/2009 20:13

missannesley - oooh I wish. Perhaps ditching the spanx would help

AnybodyHomeMcFly · 08/10/2009 20:32

Not just about how many calories you burn during a run (or other cv exercise) - it raises yr metabolism so that you burn more at rest.

OrmIrian · 09/10/2009 10:28

I want that to be true anybody I so hope it is. I want the weight to fall off again when I start back seriously.

stepaway · 09/10/2009 10:41

try British Military Fitness

It's not too expensive (cheaper than gym membership) and they reckon you burn over 600 calories in a 1-hour session.

it is hard work but a great workout and lots of fun. (I never thought i would say that as i HATE the gym)
