Face infections

My 7 month daughter has had a rash on her face on and off for around 2 months but it has got particularly bad in the last few weeks. She has had around 7 different creams prescribed by the doctor - however, I don't feel comfortable giving her steroid creams continually....
I have been told that it's teething/caused by a dummy/eczema/'just a baby rash, she will grow out of it' etc etc but nothing works! At the moment it seems to be itching her and it looks very red and inflamed.
Has anyone got any advice at all?

Ds had this at a similar age, we also tried most creams. Although we didn't know it at the time, it was due to teething and only when we got photos back of him at a later date did we realise that he used to have it. (Oh dear! sounds like another bad mother award)

He used to rub his face on anything he could find and 'inflame' it more. I think it disappeared fully at about 14 months (Not what you want to hear)

I found creams made it more irritating to him and in the end we 'oiled' him from the inside, by putting Eye-Q oil (from boots, ask their vitamin lady for the right one) in his milk and I believe that did help. I still give it to him now, as we are not big fish eaters so therefor doen't get the omega fats.

Anyway sorry to babble. But give it a try.

If it is only on the face, could it be a contact rash? Ds has eczema but when it is only his face that is effected, it can often be down to an external irritant such as washing powder traces on the pillow, mils' perfume etc. Also, dribbling caused by teething, a snotty nose and sun cream have all brought out a face rash. Sometimes if skin is red and inflamed, putting more creams on can be an irritant in itself, especially if the skin is weepy. Have the doctors prescribed cream with antibiotic in it? If it is a wet and red rash, it may be infected eczema. We always use Fucidin H cream for this.

As I mentioned on another thread my ds(2) gets a rash like this on and off. I have found the L'Occitane 100% Shea Butter really good. If you haven't seen this it comes in a tin and is solid but softens to a texture similar to vaseline with body heat. It is 100% natural and unperfumed and doesn't irritate his skin. It may seem a bit expensive but you can buy a small tin and a little goes a long way. Just do a search online to find the best prices. Hope this helps.

Thanks for these messages, I have tried the Fucidin cream already and it cleared up the rash but it came back when we stopped using it. I have had a cream called Allergenics recommended which I got this morning in Boots, will have to see how that goes.

Also, new to this site, whats with the ds dd dh etc etc? It is son, daughter, husband? Not sure!

oliveoil yup it is husband partner etc All unknown rashes dry skin sore lips etc get treated wiht Lansinoh or vaseline in our house. Lansinoh is particularly good in areas where vaseline might get rubbed off or washed awawy as it is VERY sticky. I apply it at night and by morning .....all gone.
