Night Sweats

What's that all about?

Not a new thing but I do often wake up utterly drenched.
I'm fed up with changing sheets.

Google suggests either TB or AIDS and I don't think I've got either.

I sympathise as I am often like this - sometimes change my night clothes 3 times a night. At the moment I'm not too bad. Don't know what causes it. I sometimes think it's just a bad circulation thing - I'm often freezing cold when I go to bed, then within a couple of hours I'm sweating again.

EccentricaGallumbits · 06/09/2009 18:46

interesting. i'm always bloody cold. except at 3 in the morning. tis v annoying.

Menopause

EccentricaGallumbits · 06/09/2009 18:48

don't think it's menopause. I'm 35. regular periods.
also doesn't seem to be related to cycle. just random hotnes.

you don't have one of those memory foam mattresses? they make you feel very hot, ime

cocolepew · 06/09/2009 18:50

Peri-menopause, I've been having them since I was 35, with regular periods. I also took them when I had an over active thyroid.

EccentricaGallumbits · 06/09/2009 18:55

no expensive mattresses for me.

do you think i need some bloods done? perhaps thyroid and hormones? arse, bollocks and damn.

OP posts:
cocolepew · 06/09/2009 18:58

I take them in cycles, I can go for ages and not have any, then some out of the blue.

Do you feel well in other respects?

EccentricaGallumbits · 06/09/2009 19:10

yes, apart from chronic fatness and a knackered back.

cocolepew · 06/09/2009 19:18

TBH I wouldn't bother with the GP then, but if they become very frequent I'd get it checked.

I'm now onto hot flushes, complete with vomiting ....

Are you on any antidepressants? They're notorious for causing night sweats.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 06/09/2009 19:23

Are you BFing? I get night sweats and have been to my GP - she said I will still get them while I am BFing.
I had thyriod etc checked and nothing came up.

What bedcovers have you got - do you need to change your duvet?

southeastastra · 06/09/2009 19:27

i've suddenly got them, remember dp getting them at roughly the same age too (40) think mine are hormone related.

so uncomfortable aren't they

EccentricaGallumbits · 06/09/2009 20:00

not sudden.
i do need to chnge duvet but only because uit too is minging and sweaty.
not BF nor have been for 10 years

mathanxiety · 07/09/2009 02:50

Thyroid? Diabetes? Worth getting checked.

Cosmosis · 08/09/2009 14:38

I'd get it checked, could well be something like thyroid,, or equally could be stress. I had them a few years ago and got a few bloods done. Mine was a bit inconclusive really, slightly raise prolactin level, was put down to either stress or a virus.
