Alcohol problem!!!

Not sure where to put his message so chose Health!! I have filled in the AA test and am apparently not an alcoholic but I have for the last few months found myself drinking every evening. It is usually 3 glasses of wine but sometimes go for the whole bottle depending on my mood. I also hide bottles or buy duplicates so that my dp does not know how much I have drunk. Been having a tough time and I suppose I drink because it deadens the pain of what I am feeling -has anybody got any suggestions as to how to stop - other than the obvious just stop buying the wine!!!

Don't know off hand. Not as calorific as beer but still empty calories. I think about 100 cals for a small pub measure of wine (and most people when drinking wine at home don't pour themselves a measly pub measure do they)

and have just read it affects body's ability to burn fat too.

my wine glasses are massive at home

dinny don't worry about wine and bf. So little gets through it's not going to hurt and as long as you're using it to relax, rather than needing it and not being able to function without it, then having a more relaxed Mum is good for baby!

I try and stick to one bottle a week, though it does sometimes creep up to two. Herbal teas are a good alternative, or other nice exotic non-alcoholic drinks, like Ame or Rochester Ginger (which you can get from Holland and Barrett). Also if it's Monday evening and I fancy a glass of wine, a supply of fresh fruit usually makes me change my mind.

Don't know what I'm going to do when the current series of Desperate Housewives finishes, it's going to totally change my drinking habits!

ds is thriving - and I don't drink loads, just too frequently, I am too reliant on it at end of the day.
good idea re herbal teas. think will have a relaxing bath as soon as children in bed - that's my danger time.

Oh no, Caligula - there's a double bill of DH on tonight!!!!

Apparently women have 10% more body fat than men so we don't dilute alcohol as easily (bummer) and I was suprised that there are 198 calories in an bottle of alcopop - have 5 of those and you're onto 1,000 calories a night which made me think abit. Baileys is the worst with half a bottle coming in at the equivelent of 5 Mars bars!!!!!! (runs screaming round the room).

Howz it going Lulu?

Howz the week going Lulu? x

Lulu41 · 09/06/2005 11:36

Not bad had a glass of wine with lunch whilst out so dont count that one as I am not sitting at home dwelling my crap life didnt worry too much about that - feeling quite good about not hitting the bottle every night so much brighter in the mornings. I do realise however that my other problems wont just disappear on their own but the fact I feel I am doing something about the booze is helping thanks for asking x

Just to let all who posted here that I have now kicked my wine habit during the week and have gone back to having some wine at weekends which makes me happier - thank you all for posting - I am beginning to look at the problems that really caused me to drink in the first place and although I can see no quick way out just stopping myself from sinking further into the bottle has helped xxx
