Should I go to the Dr if my memory has become quite bad?

I was shocked to read on a thread on here just now that someone was advised to get their DH to go to the Dr because his memory was bad.

My memory had to be very good for work, 8 years ago, but over the last three or so years has become really poor. I gave up work to have children 8 years ago so don't stretch it in the same way, and am 44 so thought it was pre-menopausal.

This week out shopping, three times I thought 'after I've been into this shop, I neeed to get x from another shop'. Each time I forgot. I hate putting new things away in the house because I forget where I have put them. I never never used to be like this and used to have facts at my fingertips the whole time.

Should I be worried?

Are you me? I'm exactly the same. Today, I opened the fridge door, spent a couple of minutes trying to remember what I was in there for, and then realised I meant to open the cupboard and not the fridge!

Hope some memory specialist comes along to tell us it's completely normal at our age.

Glad it's not just me MrsMuddle! Presumably that is where your name comes from? (Gosh I've just thought, I hope people don't think I have a spotty bottom!).

Actually, I've been on here with that name for years, well before my memory left me. But maybe it was a portent of things to come!

i do things like this. i am nowhere near 40 (no offence )

i put it down to the fact that as mothers/parents we have to retain so many teeny tiny minutae detail of abxolutely everything, often without realising it, that something somewhere has to give.

hence me saying to dh "where have i put my cup of tea" and him saying "you haven't made one yet

I have a terrible memory adn like you am always putting stuff away and then forgeting where I put it.
I have started taking Ginko Biloba and Omeg 3, 6 and 9 and have noticed some improvement.
I think its haveing so much to do/think about
