Ok a few results

40% of respondents were SAHM
43% partly SAHM
16% work fulltime

2% are underweight
57% are about right
20% are slightly overweight
15% are overweight
6% are very overweight

41% of SAHM consider themselves to be overwieght of some description compared with 33% of part-SAHM and 62% of fulltime working mums.

Therefore you are almost a 1.5 times as likely to be overweight if you work full time outside of the home than if you stay at home full time.

The happy medium regarding weight appears from this survey to be to combine being a SAHM with somekind of part-time work.

As 66% of respondents who did this considered themselves to be at the right weight, compared with 56% of SAHMs and 31% of full time working mums.

ITS OFFICIAL.

Ok Koala Bear you set up the thread and I'll analyse the results.

Move to the country was great! Thanks for asking. Both our parents came and helped which was a real boon. We are not actually there yet as I am still 'working' in London til Friday but after Bank holiday weekend I will be a full time rural dweller. quite scary.

I walked around the house on Sunday thinking what AM I going to do here on my own all day just with dd. Anyway initially it will be unpack boxes so that will keep me busy for a week or so. And have to organise my wedding to.

thanks for asking.

Gwenick - I put you as b as it was a catch all category - you sound very busy. what is your full time work. how many hours do you spend on it?

I'm really surprised at the 40% SAHM; I didn't think it was that high on here.

I wonder how that correlates to the age of the youngest child?

Does anyone know any national stats?

Also part-time is a huge category though isn't it? For the past couple of years I have worked 'part-time', between 8 and 20 hrs per week, in various jobs. I'm about to start a 32.5 hr job, but TTO. But all these count as 'part-time'.

Anyway - fascinating survey. Well done Flum for organising it and analysing it.

Gwenick · 24/05/2005 13:52

flum - my full time work is Catalogue Manager for our business. I don't actually have any 'set' hours though - but can be called on at any time to do stuff
