Cracked heels - very painful. Any good cream suggestions?

Title says it all! Every spring when I ditch the trainers / boots and reach for my wonderful sandals I get horrible cracks that take forever to heal up. I exfoliate and use a foot file and moisturise regularly. Anyone got any good ideas?

Vaseline - cheap
or CCS Foot Care Cream - expensive but worth it!

My DS (9) has cracked skin under his big toes & on ball of foot - gets worse after swimming (twice a week). We are slapping E45 on them, but again - any suggestions gratefully recvd.

Slap on either the vaseline or CCG cream ,then put on a pair of cotton socks and leave. Keep applying.

I would definitely get the CCS cream - Swedish, from Boots. They do a general footcare cream and one specifically for heels. DS1 has the most terrible dry skin on his feet - cracked and bleeding all over not just the heels - and this is the only thing that has sorted it out. If you put it on at night for a week or so it will make a huge difference.

I get this a lot and it's awful, I agree. for the last couple of years I have been using Ahava Dermud Enriched Foot Cream which I get from my local chiropodist's office. It's about £10 a tube but lasts a long time and is great - it has Dead Sea stuff in it which seems to do the trick for me where vaseline, E45 and other similar stuff failed. Also very good was an Australian cream called Du-It but I can't find that anywhere now. If you can afford it, a chiropodist's treatment is worth it too - just to get rid of the worst of the dead skin so you can feed the skin underneath and keep it soft.

compeed heel crack plasters are good.

Definitely agree with CCS cream suggestion. Chiropodist I resorted to after trying to fix it myself, said this was the best cream . She suggested using a foot file daily (when feet are dry), then smothering them in CCS cream and popping socks on (otherwise it gets all over your shoes). My feet aren't perfect now, but heaps better.

Oh and she said to avoid so-called 'pedicures' where they remove hard skin. These can often do more damage than anything else.
