My dd is nearly 4 months and the poor mite has so many 'problems' at the moment she just seems to be constantly miserable. If she's awake then basically she's crying. I feel terrible for her and want to make her little life better but don't know what to do. She has eczema and this is irritating her, it's weeping and she scratches it and makes herself bleed. I put her in cotton sleep suits and mittens to stop her scratching but then she gets too hot andd that aggrevates the eczema too. She's just been put onto a lactose free milk by the HV but is starving as was previously on sma white as she's a big baby, the sma lf simply isn't touching her hunger and she's crying because she's so hungry. On top of this she's teething, she's getting to the stage where she needs weaning and (rather worryingly) she's just developed 'clicky joints'. OMG I'm knackered, she's knackered and I feel as if I'm about to lose control ! Not sure what anyone can do to help but I feel better for having ranted - of course, anyone who does have advice please, please, please tell me!

asj about goats milk formula. some people can tolerate goats milk better than cows milk based formula.

dizzymama · 11/05/2005 21:32

Can you get goats milk formula (I feel a web search coming on!) I know when I was young and had a similar thing to dd they put me on goats milk and it cleared right up, but I was 5 and Dad just bought a goat - much easier!!

yes, might be worth going to the GP and seeing if you can it on perscription as i think its more expensive.

dizzymama · 11/05/2005 21:33

wonder if I could get a goat on prescription??!! (sorry misdee, just realised that sounds like I'm taking the micky out of your suggestion, which I'm not at all )

this can be a problem Dizzymama. My DS2 had very bad lactose intolerance - he is well known on MN for being a total porker and we had the same problem when he had to change from hungry baby milk based formula to soy. We ended up weaning early which luckily hasn't caused any long term problems but we didn't have the history of allergy your DD does. The one thing that was suggested to us by our paediatrician was the use of Nestargel . We used it a few times but is a real hassle - perhaps talk to your GP about it.

I'm ringing the doctor first thing, must be strong and insist on action I think, will write everything I want to say down.

Take her off dairy! You can also get Sheeps Milk formula (I believe) which is more like human breast milk than goats or cows in its consitution

dizzymama · 11/05/2005 21:42

washing powders, cut down to half the usual amount, lose the fabric conditionor if you use it. or invest in some eco-balls.

Hi dizzymana

i think you need to be asked to be referred to paediatirian. To get diagnosis if she is dairy intolerance. Also there are other milks which could be prescribed on presrciption by GP.In cluding pepti junior.Feel you need proper advice from dieticain.Goats milk not recommended by department of Health.
