DH is having his wisdom teeth out on Friday under a general. He's been told that its a liquid diet for a week. He is already baulking at the idea of soup for a week, so if anyone out there has had similar op, what did you eat afterwards?

I had mine all out at once under general too. I was lucky to be eating more or less normally the same day (not much gets between me and food). I did feel that I couldn't open my mouth quite as wide for a few days.

My sister lived on those dieting drinks for a while.

I would say nothing too hot or cold or salty. He may vomit (I did after eating a pot of yoghurt) and was told that this was because I had swallowed blood (yeuch). Soup?

I had all 4 out under a GA - my bottom 2 were coming through horizontally like your dh's and they decided to take the top 2 out as well to save me from any future problems with them.

I would be very surprised if he can go back to work next week - I remember gaily telling my boss I would be back at work the next day and he said, ominously " I don't think you will ! "

Even if he is not in too much pain, he may look like I did afterwards - as though I'd been in a carcrash. My face was terribly swollen and bruised and I also had bruises on my chest from the surgeon kneeling on it to pull the teeth out { they had hooked roots and were very difficult - I awoke from the anaesthetic to see them, still attached to bits of flesh, in a jar by my bedside ! }

He will need a liquid diet as the operation affects your jaw muscles and you can hardly open your mouth for a few days afterwards - I ended up, in desperation, melting chocolate to push through my reluctant teeth.
On the positive side - no more wisdom tooth pain and you lose a good bit of weight !

I think everyone is different. I had one bruise on my chin (I always imagined the dentist sitting on my chest prizing my mouth open).

I was about 20 at the time so I think it is easier the younger you are. Mine were all in sideways (God help DS if he inherits my teeth!).
