You know, like calpol? I am rubbish at taking tablets It's like I forget how to swallow if I know I have one in my mouth and I end up retching and/or tasting it. I have tried taking it with food instead but I still get the problem because I know it's in there somewhere and I start overthinking about swallowing and argh! I'm fine if I just have period pain or something (though it can take me ages to take them anyway) but the other night I felt like I was coming down with something, had a splitting headache, DS was coming down with something and waking every hour and I had an awful headache but only managed to take one paracetamol. I had 2 spoonfuls of DS' calpol (which always seems to help - must be a placebo effect from childhood!)

Um yes anyway, enough rambling

not sure but have you tried soluble tablets? that's what i have to have. through a straw works best for me so i can't taste it much. you can even get soluble co-codomol

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 26/05/2009 23:33

You can use calpol, you can also get suppositories aswell if you are very desparate. Try the 12+ paracetamols suspension (liquid) from the chemist. It's the same dose as tablets.

I was going tu suggest soluble as well. Mind you I gag and retch if I take soluble. Or round tablets, or in fact anything that isn't capsule shaped

DD will never be able to take tablets because of a condition she has. We were talking to the pharmacist about this recently and she said they have loads of adult patients who buy children's medicines (calpol/nurofen) in syrup form. One reason she quoted was not liking tablets.

Oh brilliant, I love the taste of calpol and have just discovered they now make the 6+ one in strawberry flavour! I was really upset when I had to have the orange one when I was little

I always just assumed it was really dilute so wouldn't have occurred to me to look for them - thanks for the suggestion.

no reason why you can't have calpol - will work out quite expensive for you though as you will need 20ml a go.

Oh that's ok, I only take paracetamol probably 3 or 4 tines a year, so cost not really a problem I might try the soluble paracetamol with a straw though.

best of luck!! for years i couldn't eat chocolate cake after the horror of my parents having to crush tablets in cake to get me to take them. i actually thought cadbury's easter cakes tasted that rank.

Neurofen I think it's them anyway do a meltlet tablet you pop on your tongue and let is dissolve.

CherryChoc · 27/05/2009 20:51

I'm sure it stems from childhood ruddynorah, I had to take Joy Rides which were travel sickness tablets (think they still make them) which tasted so sickly sweet they overpowered anything you hid them in, yuk. It got so the taste of the tablet would make me feel sick in anticipation of the journey

Try soluble paracetamol. Hope you are feeling better soon.
