I'm late 20s and never had a smear.
Am roughly mid cycle, last few days i've had bloody discharge. Not much but smears and spots, some fresh blood colour, some brownish.
I realise i probably need to go to the gp but thinking this has made me face the fact that i am petrified of internals/ smears
I honestly feel like i'm going to vomit, i'm crying ffs.
I dont know why i feel like this but it cant just be me can it?, how do i get past this? Is there an alternative?

They're not compulsory.

A smear test is really not a big deal. It's certainly nothing to cry over. What exactly do you think will happen?

I finally went for mine last week, 4 years late! I dreaded it, but it's really not that bad, you're uncomfortable for a couple of minutes, then it's over.

Biscuits - don't worry, they aren't nice but only cos the thing they use looks rather like a pair of salad tongs and I feel like I am about to be served up as some weird starter at the shittest dinner party ever.

They don't hurt, the worst bit is just the indignity of it all, however I find I actually miss getting it out since having the baby

Biscuits - it is awful anticipating an internal, i was dreading my first one after childbirth, but honestly, it won't be as bad as you think, mine wasn't and i felt foolish for getting into such a worry!

Please be brave and go, you'll be SO proud of yourself once you do.

If you don't you will have this angst hanging over you forever. If you go, you'll get rid of it and have a brill excuse to treat yourself to something!

Go on - go for it - it wont be as bad as you fear - you'll get rid of your terror - and it's good for your health. Peace of ming. Now pick up the phone and do it. x

well, it must be a peace of ming for whoever is doing it, but clearly i meant peace of mind...
