dd1 aged 14 has quite pronounced stretch marks on her developing breasts - she is a normal size 12 ,fit and excercises a lot and her breasts are not big ( may be about 34A or something like that ).
is there anythning we can do to stop it happening or to speed up the fading ? any advice gratefully received as it is a difficult enouhg age as it is without stressing bout this too!
thanks in advnace

hi there. bio oil and cocoa butter all really help. but please reassure your dd that i had exactly the same, and by the time i was 16 they were barely visible. they honestly fade. cant see them now at all.

blondissimo · 12/05/2009 20:27

Yes - bio oil - slap it on, or vitamin e cream. Tell her not to worry - I had terrible stretch marks at that age, but faded away to white within 6 months or so. Poor lamb.

pipsqueak · 12/05/2009 20:28

thank you f or taking the trouble to reposnd - that is reassuring . any particular brand ? does she just rub it on after a shower or every day do you think ? glad yours faded btw

not remotely relevant or helpful - but I just wanted to say that I think it's brilliant that you and her have talked about this. there's no way in a million years I would have told my mum such a thing and I aspire to be a mum like you when dds are teenagers.

thisisyesterday · 12/05/2009 20:29

aww, I had that too. you can still see them a bit, but in terms of erm, male interest I can honestly say that none of the people who have seen my breasts have ever mentioned it or been put off in any way shape or form (and there have been quite a few viewers )

vit e cream is good though, and just keeping well moisturised

candyfluff · 12/05/2009 20:29

i too had awful red angry looking stretch marks on my breasts when i was a teenager, have almost disapeared now
try bio oil

pipsqueak · 12/05/2009 20:35

thanks hatwoman all for your comments - she was reluctant to show me but did in the end as i think she is so desperate for help with it - although i am a bit of a lard bucket i only had these on stomach when pregnant and sort of past caring about them iykwim so no practical advice - it is so reassuring that they fade . i am sure that will help her to know ... oh i love mumsnet! {warm glow emoticon}!

your poor dd!!

I got stretch marks when pg with ds1 at 24 and was devastated - none on abdomen just boobs

they have not got worse despite loads more pregnancies and are now just silver....tbh they only show when i am very cold or very thin!

i second that men have not even seemed to notice

i also second bio oil

i saw an american comedian on tv the other day ranting about his love of boobs ' i love any titties big small stretch marked!' i heart him!

wonderif · 13/05/2009 09:34

yeh get the bio oil you can get it online cheaper than in boots , i think chemist direct sell it cheaper.

BonsoirAnna · 13/05/2009 09:40

I had stretch marks on my breasts at that age and they really did fade with time - quite quickly even.

LobstersLass · 13/05/2009 18:49

Perhaps the excercise is contributing to the problem? Make sure she's got a proper sports bra that clamps her chest to her body.

I've got stretch marks too, but they faded quickly and can't be seen now. No one has ever commented on them!

smallchange · 13/05/2009 18:51

I had the same. They did fade with no intervention, and pretty quickly iirc.

Poor dd - I remember being horrified at the time.

pipsqueak · 14/05/2009 00:28

thanks again - will investigate the bra a fitting issue xx

I had loads at this age. You couldn't see them after they'd stopped growing. I can see them under certain lights, they're that silverly colour that stretch marks can go but DP has never notices and he gets quite up close and personal with them.

I can recommend a shock absorber sports bra. I have DDs and they do not move at all.

Theimperialcharliecat · 14/05/2009 00:50

I have stretchmarks from puberty and was convinced that I would get them in pregnancy expecially at the advanced old age of 39. BUT I liberally applied pure vitamin E oil (I pierced capsules and applied) on my belly and didn't have a single stretchmark. Its an expensive way to do it but SO worth it and I will be doing the same if I am lucky enough to get pg again

SparklyGothKat · 14/05/2009 00:57

your poor Dd I have stetchmarks on my breasts, and I am only a 34b. They have faded to a silvery colour and DH doesn't even mention them, not sure he has even noticed them. I've got no stetchmarks on my stomach from pregnancy tho
