Any nurses/doctors/medical people around please? I've burnt my hand [sad]

Burnt the back of my hand yesterday evening on the grill. The skin actually touched the electric grill and made a tssss sound .

The burn is about an inch long by half an inch wide and whilst driving this morning, the sun through the windscreen was aggravating it.

Are there any dressings/creams I can buy to put on it? I did run it under the cold tap for nearly an hour after I'd done it yesterday.

ouch. i'd make an appointment with practice nurse to look at it. they'll be able to dress it.
be very careful to look out for signs of infection.

I thought there may be something I could just buy over the counter.

I have a severe phobia of all things medical and if I have to go see a nurse, it will cause panic attacks etc.

I've been spraying savlon antiseptic wound wash onto it in the hope I will beat any infection!

Speak to the pharmacist. They will be able to advise you.

I hope it feels better soon.

Thank you, just been to Boots and the Pharmacist gave me some special burns plasters which have jelly stuff in them!

I had thought the best thing for it was fresh air to dry out but apparantly not!

no. warm and moist is best for healing.
those burn plasters are v good. used them once after an incident with the iron.

I use aloe vera, starihgt from the plant, on my burns.

I seem to burn myself a lot at the moment, on the oven and the iron.

Germlene is excellent for numbing the pain. Or lavender oil seems to work well too. (speaking from painful experience)

Thanks all, think I'll stick with these burn plasters for now.

Just hope it clears up in a few days as they're very expensive (4 in a pack for £3!) and they have to be changed every day.

If not, I may try alternatives as suggested by you lovely ladies so thank you
