Help, what is wrong with me? Feel really weird/shivery/dizzy, but no fever?

Ok this is a bit strange, so please bear with me.

The last couple of days ds1 was ill with a virus - shivery and pale and he had a temp going up to around 38.9 so was quite poorly.

It's been better today, he's still not 100% but no temp any more.

However.

When I woke this morning, I felt quite sick and yucky - I wasn't sick and it went away after a few hours, but I carried on feeling really, really tired all day (like I actually went to bed, and dozed for an hour which felt great - despite having ds2 jumping on me!) I sort of put it down to a dodgy veggie curry yesterday, maybe dehydration or something.

I couldn't get warm after that and thought I'd feel better after some sleep, but have woken up again feeling horrible - not sick or anything, but kind of over-warm and a bit cold at the same time, shivery, a little dizzy and just 'not well'

Took temp fully expecting to have one but there's nothing - in fact it's lower than it often is, 36.7

Can anyone tell me what might be going on? Have had no appetite all day but otherwise it's just a sort of 'ill' feeling. It couldn't just be a panic attack could it?

Flu?

InternationalFlight · 10/05/2009 23:24

Yes but I don't have a temperature. This is the funny bit.

Strange virus. labarynthitis (sp?), inflammation of the inner ear can cause nausea and dizzyness. Best to pop and see the GP in the morning or give NHS direct a call if yo are worried. Have you eaten? Low blood sugar can also cause yor symptoms.

InternationalFlight · 10/05/2009 23:32

Thanks - maybe it's that though normally not eating doesn't make me feel like this.
tried nhs direct but it's urgent only.

will try ooh maybe, just speak to them.

In your OP, don't you say that your ds1 has been ill?
Is it me, or is the obvious answer more likely that you've got what ds1 had?
Not having the temp doesn't mean you've not got the same viral thing he had, just affecting you differently. Often my dcs have viruses and when I or dh get them, they're milder forms or we just get nauseous etc as we try and fight the bug off...

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 10/05/2009 23:36

NHS direct always say this when you call them, phone them back and ignore it. They will triage you over the phone and someone will either call you back or put you straight through. Some health insurances have a dedicated health advice line aswell so you could try this if you have one.

Do you have a headache? Bright lights OK? Rash?

InternationalFlight · 10/05/2009 23:39

Thanks Fluffy, might try again later on...

Frank - yes, I guess so. It seems very similar except that he was really hot and I'm not!

does that happen? perhaps it is just a weird virus mucking about with my inner thermostat or something.

thanks for being about, both of you - was feeling a bit alone and scared!

No headache or anything else. Hmm. Just feel like, well, like when you have a fever iyswim.

It's OK. It's horrible feeling ill. maybe it's the same thing as what your child had just starting. Children love to share! Little sods darlings.

FrankMustard · 10/05/2009 23:43

It is normal for children to get temperatures with viruses that wouldn't usually cause a temp in an adult - my dcs all get raging temps with viral things and me and dh get milder forms and no temp - v.common.
Now, I'm no doctor and am not trying to play down your symptoms, but I think having had a ds with the same in the last few days, it's highly likely that you've simply got the same viral thing yourself.
Drink plenty, relax and get a good night's sleep. Hope you feel better soon.

InternationalFlight · 10/05/2009 23:49

lol Fluffy.

Frank you're probably right, sounds plausible - I hope it goes away soon though, no downtime available!

At least ds1 will be off school tomorrow so he can help entertain ds2...you never know, it might work that way...
