I read in "Goodhousekeeping" an article about looking fantastic at any age accompanied by pictures of gorgeous women from 20-60 and always the products cost about 40 quid. Do real people actually spend that much on their creams ? Maybe it's time to start a new heading - cosmetics and vanity or something.

Hi edagrcat!
It could be v. likely that M & S creams are made by Clarins...their trainers used to be made by Nike !

You can buy Clinique online at the Boots site - think it's www.wellbeing.com

I can't use it anymore though as my sensitive skin got sensitive to it - now use Decleor which is gorgeous but v. expensive ! Liz Earle stuff is also lovely and can be bought online at qvc (www.qvcuk.com)

I've tried them all - an although i'd like to kid myself that I need an expensive brand - the truth is my skin always looks better when I just use Oil of Olay - and it contains an SPF factor - v. important!

hi all i worked for Elizabeth Arden for 3 years and it would surprise you just how much money ladies spent on skincare they would come in for a lip stick and leave sometimes £200 lighter off.Id like to think that it was my brill selling skills but the products really sold themselves eight hour cream is brilliant it is quite heavy on the skin but great for spots and it works a treat as a lip gloss it was around £13. After trying all the expensive brands (for free) i would say that Decleor was my fav it is expensive but worth it if anyone would like any inside info before buying anything let me know.p.s.MM it depends on your age, because if you use a cream thats to advanced for your skin(age wise i mean)then by the time your skin is ready for it it will be amune so be sure to get the right age group. go into any department store with a cosmetic department tell them your friend has recommended their mosturiser to you and could you have a sample by the time youve left you wont need to buy cream for months most counters do free makeovers too so it gives you a chance to try before you buy.Ive just reread my message and it sounds like a sales pitch but i left Arden 4 years age honest

Tesco Skin Wisdom (by Bharti Vyas) is brilliant. I always used to use expensive products but this range is just as good imo. Each item costs about £3 so loads of money left for the wine aisle.

I use Simple moisturiser, it 'soaks in' really easy so you don't feel greasy. Also very cheap!

Somebody once said, it doesn't really matter what you use as long as you use something.

Also the trouble is we won't know if we would have looked any different using pricey creams.

Have just been diagnosed with dry/sensitive skin and have had a 'prescription' of Elemis products given to me at Center Parcs. Will try it for a while, have bought some of it from Ebay and the rest from QVC which was cheaper than the Elemis store!
