Welcome to the Vaccinations topic.

Yes there are risks but they seem less than the real oones we face otherwise. Mumps is not a high risk disease unless you are an adolecscent; he's not, he is (ominously) 13 months. Measles isn't that abd an illness when there's decent ehalth care either in real temrs, complications are nasty and I wouldnt wish them on anyone but DS4 has the indications of suceptibilty: two autistic siblings, genetic tendencies so strong the genetics service is targetting us for testing, the casein intolerances that indicate leaky gt syndrome (and hence membership of the small subset of the population). He's not ill and not in any way I know of at additional risk from catching any virus. if I could gurantee he'd never be exposed I'd obviously choose that but I cannot, and when he is in school he'll be able to pass it on so yes, i'd choose for him to get it now. Not that i'd deliberately infect him either. Just a question of balances.

But we are a rare if not unique case; I watched ds3 regres around the time of his MMR from a chatty little child into a non verbal extremely passive one (DS1 was clearly born with his asd as I think it was triggerd at birth by a difficult time). We ahve been told the risk of him having ASD is up to 80% through genetics alome and even the HV has agreed not to hassle us about MMR. We'd have single jabs and planned to just that DH was amde redundant recently and it's simply not an option ATM, nothing more complex that that.

The other boys did have it, I do beleive vaccinations are a big bonus for the rest of the population. I would however like to see masses of research done to enure they really are safe as most opeople dont know they are high risk until too late.

i'm not instructing I am suggesting. I also said if you don't want to search then I hope those people will come here and give all the information all over again.

OlympedeGouges · 14/05/2009 09:50

And I thought the point of this topic was definitely not endless rehashes of the MMR debate as I already said. When starting this topic was discussed, it was suggested that there was a page of links so that people wouldn't have to explain the same thing over and over again.I am merely backing that suggestion.

As I said, debate ahead, don't mind me.

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 14/05/2009 12:14

Ruby, what were your reasons for waiting until the ages you have?

Peachy · 14/05/2009 13:11

I thoughtb the older you waited the more likely trhe immunity 'stuck' (you're aware that it often doesn't, yes?) but can't promise I remember that correctly.

Olympesde LOL

OlympedeGouges · 14/05/2009 13:40
