Breastfeeding and hideous hayfever about to commence, what to take?

I know I can take beconase and eye drops. What has anyone else taken?
I was told by my GP that I couldn't take any anti-histamines at all the last time this happened, but I'm not convinced.
Am hopefully seeing a specialist in a couple of weeks, but don't know if I'll last that long.

Have you tried elderflower cordial? This helps me, a glass first thing in the morning. I do get sick of the taste though. Local honey is also supposto help.

blimey really? I'll defin itely try it, but would be really amazed if it works, my hayfever is so unpleasant and aggresive that I can't imagine it being affected by a lovely glass iof cordial/ Thank you though, it is definitely worth a try. Tried the honey last year, will have another go this time.
Thanks

Seriously, mine's really nasty too, Summer's like hell. I do still get hayfever with the cordial but it's 90% better then without it. I recommended the cordial to my neighbour as she gets it just as bad, it works for her aswell. I've no idea how it works though but at least I'm not dosed up with chemicals!

It depends a little on how old your baby is, as some level of the antihistamine does end up in your milk, and you might also find that taking antihistamines affects your milk supply.

I had a massive attack of hives when breastfeeding ds2 (he was 4 or 5 months old iirc) and my gp recommended to take benadryl. I checked the Kellymom website: here and also here. There also is some good advice on here on sideeffects.

tHANKS HONNEYBUNNY oops, didn't mean to shout! That looks really useful. I'll have a scan of your kellymom links later. Had forgotten about kellymom, and also the breastfeeding network might be useful?? Can't wait to try to elderflower cordial. It's one opf my favourites anyway, so that's great!
