At least I think it is one, it started with a stinking cold on sunday and monday and since last night I've gone slightly deaf on the right side and I've got an earache.
A part from painkillers, what can I use?
It's bearable when I'm standing but at night when lying down the pain is... well I'd rather give birth.

antibiotics.

I've read on Google that you should only give antibiotics if it's for a child under 2 and that the infection is severe, other wise it's a "wait and see" situation and it should clear up within 2-3 days.
In the meantime, a part from painkillers, any suggestions? Drops?

lol, ok. was just thinking of the ear infection i had over the last two weeks (spent one of them in bed) but not wishing that on you.

i just took nurofen and codeine for the first 4 days until it became apparent that my ear was oozing green goo and had completely closed up lol. i was swollen for about 3 inches circ in all directions around my ear and on the verge of being admitted if the 'next' lot of anti-bs hadn't worked. fortunately they did and i'm now just slightly mutton lol.

hope yours clears quickly!

Thanks, as it's bank holiday week- end I'll "wait and see" although not really good at doing that normally.

toffeeapple, I'm sorry to hear that you have an ear infection. I suggest that you take paracetananol, ibroprofen and a decongestant to ease disconfort. A warm hot water bottle wrapped in a towel might help as well. If that does not control the pain or the infection lasts more than 3 days then I suggest you see your GP.

Yeah thank you Reallytired, I would have gone straight away had it not be bank holiday week-end and frankly I don't fancy waiting hours for an out of hours doctor as I'm on my own with 2 young children (2 and 4).
Thanks for your suggestions.
