I'd be pretty angry about the valve too Sandy .

I have two other children and it is very hard leaving them when dd goes into hospital, although much better now they are older. When she had her surgery she was in for 9 weeks and as the hospital isn't close to home I couldn't see my little ones very often at all. They were at home with dh but my youngest son was only 2 at the time and it took him months to get over it. He was terribly clingy and generally unhappy.

yeah, i guess there is nothing i can do about it now though but sit and wait... and im not a patient person when it comes to things like that... you have 3 children potty1? how old? i have 2 of my own and 2 of my partners all boys. thats alot of male tetosterone(sp?) once a fortnight..unfortunately their mother just moved them 550km away from us so we will only see them once a month and half of school holidays...i miss them already and they've only been gone a week...isn't it funny how much you get to love other peoples children?

The two older ones are both boys - 16 and 13 now. Teenagers are worse than toddlers lol!

What a shame about your step children - they must miss you too.

sandy25 · 01/05/2005 13:09

I sure hope so..It's not so easy being a step parent...i try my best and hope its enough. what are teenage boys like these days...i have it all to look forward to. where abouts are you in the world potty1?

I don't have an appointment yet as they have always debated whether or not my condition is true HOCM or acquired as a result of my other medical probs There is no history in my family at all all my brothers and sisters are clear as are my parents and their siblings so have everything crossed ds is ok

Lucymoo · 20/05/2005 13:25

hello,my 13 month old son has got a heart murmer, detected when he was born.we've been told not to worry about it but we've got an appointment with a specialist soon to see why the hole hasnt corrected itself.trouble is i cant help but worry.he's always got chest infections and terrible coughs,i sometimes wonder if its somehow connected at all.

Sparks · 20/05/2005 13:43

If it makes you feel any better ... I had a hear murmur as a child, which didn't go until I was about 10 or 11. It never caused me any problems. I had an ordinary childhood and am now an active healthy adult.

I know it's only natural to worry, but I hope the specialist will be able to rule out anything serious and put your mind at ease.

Hi to all the heart mums!

I have an 11 month old baby boy (Jamie), who underwent open heart surgery 6 weeks ago to correct coarctation of the aorta and hypoplastic arotic arch. He also has a leaky valve (not sure which one, but will find out more at his next cardio appt on 31/5). He did have a VSD at birth but it closed naturally.

Now I am just feeling nervous about his upcoming appt.
