Prolapse whilst pregnant - help!!

Hi

I am really hoping someone can give me some advice?? I am around 9 weeks pregnant (seconf pregnancy) and I am pretty sure I have a cervical prolapse. I can see/feel my cervix (or I think thats what it is) just inside the entrance of my vagina.I am sooo worried, feel sick just thinking about it. I have been to see docs previously after birth of DS around 2 years ago but at the time was diagnosed with a slight bladder prolapse which imprved with time and lots of PFE. I know I will likely need a repair op this time but I am really worried about the effect this is having now on this pregnancy. Keep thinking about cervix dilating and that fact that it is sooo low down.

Sorry about TMI but I am really v.v. worried. Anyone had any experience of this??

Many thanks in advance

No experience of it but get to Dr ASAP, it needs to be checked out.

Thanks for replying. Just rang my midwife triage dept as I was sooo worried. Feel a little bit re-assured as they person I spoke to said does not affect the pregnancy/health of baby etc etc which is my main worry. Strongly suspect I will need an op after this baby to repair it all but I can kind of cope with that. Would really like to hear from anyone who has suffered similiar and has advice on how to cope with this, or minimise the damage/effects whilst pregnant.
Know there are worse things which could happen, and after problems with first pregnancy kind of expected something this time but didnt expect it this early on.

I had one in my second pregnancy, same as you, i thought my cervix was hanging out, it wasnt though, it was the front wall of my vagina prolapsed, i have never had it treated, but a quick fix is to do some serious pelvic floor moves

Picante · 30/04/2009 17:31

Are you sure it's not a vaginal prolapse from your first pregnancy? Hormones are probably making it all hang a bit loose!

If it is that there is no need to worry at all - as loopy said you just need to do some serious pelvic floor work.

quick reply coz I'm on my way out..... I had exactly this around 9 weeks in my 2nd pregnancy. scared the shit out of me!

GP said it was most likely hormones causing everything to kind of soften up.

Anyway - by the time I got to 35 weeks (as far as I can remember) it was all back to normal.

And now I'm off out - to my running club - where nothing falls out when I run, so I must be ok

i'm ttc number 2 at the moment and have a prolapsed uterus. I had a chat to consultant (saw her for getting clomid not about prolapse) but mentioned prolapse and she said it shouldn't affect the abiltiy to carry a child or having a vaginal delivery. good luck with the pregnancy

Thank you all so much for replying. Was away getting dinner sorted so have come back to some very re-assuring replies. Ive been googling away all afternoon and did after it happened after 1st pregnancy and I know pregnancy/BF hormones can soften everything up. I am really hoping it all springs back into place after .

I have been doing PFE like mad but doesnt seem to be making much of a difference at the minute.

loopy, picante and themoon66, did you all deliver naturally? Did it affect the birth/recovery at all and how were things afterwards?

Hi fiesta.... I had a very normal birth, delivered reasonably quickly with just gas and air. I recovered quicker than during my first. No after effects at all.

fiestabelle · 01/05/2009 09:08

Thanks themoon66, thats good to know. I would much prefer a natural birth mainly because dont want the recovery period associated with a CS with a 3 year old not being able to drive for 6 weeks wouldnt be ideal!

Have you recvoered completely now?

i also had a natural birth, no problems afterwards

Hey I realise this was a while back! But can I ask how you got on? Am currently in the same situation and 15 weeks with my second. So worried bulge is going to pop out further! Gynae dr told me it was all normal but didn't say what it actually was jus told me to do pelvic floors which I'm doing with little effect so far 😔

Pansyblue · 04/11/2023 09:22

I know this is an old thread, but I am currently going through this situation (12 weeks pregnant, can feel heavy dragging feeling and cervix about 1cm in). Does anyone have any experience of this? Am seeing gynae early next week, but am panicking!

Emzi1992 · 04/11/2023 12:26

Hey 😌
Definitely download squeeze app, mine never got any worse throughout the pregnancy which logically you would think would die to the extra load. And I had natural labour. All feels completely normal now but probably took a good few months after birth of doing pelvic floors. I can feel my uterus now with a finger but I'm told that's pretty common!!
Good luck with your pregnancy 💖
