My knee. Ouch

I fell over when I was out for a run yesterday, which was embarrassing enough.

But now I have a big grazed knee and it's SO painful constantly, but even more when I bend it or straighten it.

I'm sure I used to fall all the time as a child and I don't remember hurting this much.

The knee is boiling hot as well.

I feel rather sorry for myself.

Poorly old you.

If the knee is boiling hot do you think it is a bit infected? Is it swollen? It does sound rather horrid - can you hop along to the docs if no better tomorrow?

Well I only did it last night so I don't know if it would have had a chance to get infected yet.

I had a shower after and gingerly wiped some shower gel in its general direction (whilst muttering "FUUUUCK" under my breath) so hopefully that would have cleaned it.

It looks a bit swollen but I went down with an almighty thump as I was actually running quite well and fast. typical.

I'll keep a watch on it though.

I know it's silly but I was quite pleased when I got home and saw the blood and bruising as it really hurt and I knew that I would get no sympathy otherwise...

I shouldn't think it's infected. Just a bit hot because it's damaged I suppose - lots of blood in the area maybe?

Do you have any tea tree? Rinse it with dilute tea-tree. Or unilute if you are feeling brave enough It is soothing and combats infection. And plaster it when you need to go out.

It hurts more because children have a natural immunity to pain caused by having fun Also I would hazard a guess you are heavier than you were so more weight behind you when you fall.

Ozziegirly · 30/04/2009 07:21

Oo, I'll try the tea tree. I bought some in a fit of being new age and I never think of using it.

I am a bit heavier. And taller I suppose so have further to fall.

My DH did this last year while out jogging and grazed his knee and bum cheek.

I/He found the best dressing for it which took away the pain was opsite. You get if from the chemist and it is like cling film which sticks onto the wound until it has healed - no need to change it. If is fantastic for grazes and burns.

I am guessing you are in Aust otherwise I am not sure what it is called or if is available elsewhere.

I hope you heal quickly!

Thank you! I will look out for that.

Grazed knee and bum cheek is impressive.
