medical help- post menopausal bleeding or not?

I am 45 and have had a mirena coil for 3yrs.
I have had no bleeding for at least a year and v little for year before.
After few hot flushes had LH and FSH measured 6 mos ago~were high in post menopausal range.
Saw a gynaecologist 3 mos ago did 2nd test and were in post menoausal range again~she seemed to think this was likely to confirm early menopause[not premature].
But starting 5 days ago had PV bleeding and period pains for last 5 days still ongoing so don't know whether to think this is a period after all from a remaining egg or post menopausal bleeding to worry about or even problem with mirena.

Was hoping might be a medical bod around to advise;I see gynae again in 3 weeks to remove mirena.
Thanks

I've no idea as I had straightforward instant ovarian failure from radiotherapy, so no questions or grey areas for me!

There is a menopause topic lurking somewhere where you might find some good links. I don't have mine on this computer but I seem to remember menopause matters and the british menopause society.

You can get an occasional sporadic ovulation and bleed for 1-2 years even once FSH in menopausal range when under 50. However, it is worth mentioning to your gynaecologist as they may feel that a hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy is justified.

Thanks for your responses.
ThingOne~sorry to hear that ,that must have been very difficult for you.

~thanks, the mirena is being removed in the hysteroscopy suite where I had biopsy when it was put in.I'll mention it to her at the outset so she can decide what to do.

I found it odd though that since presumably the mirena caused the initial amenorrhoea 3 yrs ago I wouldn't have thought there would be any bleeding even with ovulation.
