Would you keep a person with a sore throat away from a 4 month old?

Probably being silly, but my friend is coming to stay at the weekend. She says she has a sore throat and I'm now thinking, is it wise her being around DS as he recently had a cold himself. DH thinks I am being OTT and that her sore throat is more down to her being on the lash all weekend rather than her being ill. He also said that I can't lock DS indoors and keep him away from every little germ. WWYD?

To answer the question in your thread title, no.

katylou25 · 29/04/2009 08:48

definately not! I agree wholeheartedly with your dh i'm afraid...

no I wouldn't adn I am usually neurotic and panicky

and think about it when will you stop doing things klike stopping your friend coming with a sore throat

you could get an ocd type panic thing about it and start thinking well my friend says she is well but what if she was ill last week, she could still be germy

if you go down that road you will end up leaving the house and determined that your ds MUST never come into contact with germs
which actually is not hyelpful at all
he needs to meet germs to teach his immune system

he will be fine and
breathe

never leaving the house I meant

NO, I personaly don't understand this whole 'I must keep my child away from germs' What if you get a sore throat? Are you going to stay in a B&B until you are better?

HarryB · 29/04/2009 09:02

I know in my heart of hearts that my DH is right. I guess I am in still in PFB territory. Thank you for some perspective

I wouldn't stop it either. The only way for your child's immune system to build, is for your child to be exposed to dirt and germs.
