contraception: coil or diaphragm?

I've not long had a baby and I know I will be asked about contraception at my 6-week appt.
Before pregnancy I was taking the pill without any breaks for a few years as I had endometriosis, eventually I came off it and used condoms. I would like to try a non-barrier method but I don't want to have anything like the pill or the injection, implants etc so I see my choices as being the IUD or a diaphragm.

Could anybody please tell me how they find either of them, particularly after endometriosis? I don't have any friends in RL with experience of either!

thank you

I have no experiences of endometriosis but had the same quandry re contraception after ds2, I knew I wanted another dc so didn't want to take the pill (it took me yr to conceive ds1 after being on pill for 8yrs and I don't think pill was to blame but I think hormones masked underlying problem) I tried to have diaphram fitted but I have retroverted uterus and even the nurse struggled so I would have been hopeless at it, then we tried coil and again due to my cervix being so high she struggled and told me to go to fam planning clinic, ds2 was 8 wks old, I was sore and decided I couldn't face being poked and proded again hence now expecting (a much wanted but arriving a little eariler than 'planned') dc3, pg when ds2 was 9 mo

I intend to get the coil next time round - not sure what my point is I guess go for appointment and see if diaphram 'fits' I was quite supprised that it wouldn't work for me and kind of made the decision for me

I don't have endometriosis but have gone back to diaprhagm after a long break - I used it with success during my marriage, then when that broke up next P had the snip (bliss) (tho not for him maybe) and now new P am back to diaprhagm. I find it very easy to use really as long as you don't mind touching your own body and get the hang of how to position it. (just by the 'nose' of your cervix)

I would think its less invasive than a coil. TBH have never fancied that esp the Mirena. I want the most natural as possible having also taken the pill for many year s in my teens/twenties.

thanks both of you for your replies, insywinsy it sounds like a contraception nightmare for you!
I remembered after I posted that my health visitor told me I wouldnt be able to have a coil for 3 months as I had a caesarean so I think that makes my mind up for now - lostinthecitylover I am like you I don't really fancy one but I read it can help with severe periods and I am not keen on returning to that so I am willing to consider it.

thanks for your help
