Thanks for reading.

I have had what appeared to be a cold or mild flu for over 3 weeks now. The cold is heavy - thick green cattahr - sorry if tmi - blowing my nose 30 approx times per day plus general body aches and slight temperature almost constantly.

i say slight as I can still go to work and function - I just feel rotten and achey.

Have had a few days off work here and there when feeling very bad so have had all the rest normally recommended for "flu" and of course Easter hols didn't go to work at all and had lots of quality sleep so no issues there.

Throat slightly sore on and off throughout but really on and off not consistent.

Sitting at work now and temp rising and really feeling achey and thinking that this is stupid - 3 weeks later and still feeling rotten?

Also have had bad stomach for a few days too!!!

Thanks if anyoe can hlep.

Poor you, it sounds rotten

Unfortunately I don't think there's much you can do other than keep self medicating with paracetemol etc. Keep taking the paracetemol even if you don't feel achy - it'll help with the temperature.

DH had a cough and cold all winter, it started before CHristmas and went on until the beginning of March. He was quite unwell with it at times but apparently there are some nasty viruses going round this year that linger on and on.

I hope you're feeling better soon, hopefully the warmer weather will help.

Thanks tigerfeet - thought it would be nothing more than traditional cold gone bad but as weeks gone by I did wonder. Particularly the green catthyr bit as that usually spells infection, no?

Green cattarh can be caused by viral infections too I think, certainly that's what dh was told. I'm no medical expert though, just a confirmed hypochondriac so couldn't say for sure. Perhaps it might be worth a visit to your GP to rule out an infection? One thing I do know is that prolonged viral infections can leave you prone to bacterial infections as your immune system is depressed. DH's doctor only gave him AB's once his infection got onto his chest, but they didn't work. He had a blood test at one point but no bacterial infectin was found.. doesn't mean that yours is the same though.

I know how miserable it is to feel ill for so long, and I really hope you're on the mend soon,

i imagine you have some sort of infection, possibly chest or sinuses
dark green catarh is a sign of infection especilly with a fever

see the doc again!

Thanks everyone - there is def some sort of infection there I know. Went to docs today and he listened to my chest etc but said oh , its just viral. So no further forward there then.
