My daughter is 5 months old and seems to be suffering from eczema. It has got worse with the heat but is also there in the cooler weather. I don't use washing detergent and she wears cotton, anyone got any helpful hints on what to use to ease this. The doctor will just prescribe steroid cream and I am loathe to do this. I suffered very badly as a child so I know how painfully itchy it can be. Any help gratfully received.

Hi Luna, one of the reasons we left London was because of the hard water. You can get water softeners which fit to your plumbing system to soften the water. Dont know much about them, but you could do a search in google.

Hi, can anyone help with where to buy cotton gloves not mittens for six month old exzema sufferer shecan play but not scratch her head to bits....

Hello,
You can buy cotton gloves at Cotton Comfort. They are a mail order company with lots of clothing solutions for eczema for adults and children most of which is made without irritating internal seams and chemicals. They also do some fabulous alternatives to tying mittens on. My sister had severe eczema as a child and still uses this company to clothe her little boy even though he is not affected. You should be able to get hold of details on www.eczemaclothing.com
I hope this helps!

Bee - My ds had this from birth and we were prescribed Diprobath which is purely a moisturiser you add the their bath water. Within a few months it had gone. Now if gets patches again we use it and its cleared up in no time.

I had it as a child too.... Its horribly uncomfortable and itchy isn't it!

Tams, we have just been given gloves (fit ds, 3) by the dermatology nurse. Prob too big for a 6 month old baby though, do you have a hospital with a dermatoloogy unit local to you? It's worth asking them if they ahve gloves.

Try a free sample from Elenas Nature Collection (top of this page) available in some areas on the NHS if your GP is into alternatives..
