With my (NHS site) BMI would the GP prescribe me weight loss pills? ...

My BMI on the NHS site puts me at 31 - obese

I have a 4 month old daughter.

After my son I really struggled to loose any weight at all until I bought some slimming pills, they were expensive though and I can't afford them this time round.

I took the pills, walked alot, did an exercise DVD and was careful with what I ate, so I know it wasn't just the pills, it was me, but nothing seemed to happen UNTIL I took the pills too.

Im a bit embarressed to go and ask though.

you can now buy over the counter weight loss pills i think this came into practice today, so no prescription. It was on the news yesterday, but worth going to the dr to check as well.

Yes but they are expensive, like I said, I can't afford them this time round.

I think at 4 months post partum your GP would be very unlikely to prescribe weight loss pills at a BMI that "low".

Don't be embarrassed to talk to your GP and ask them.

i very much doubt it. they'd be much more keen for you to do things the "proper" way first.
ie, healthy eating, plenty of exercise etc etc

I think it said in the paper they prescribe for BMIs over 28.

IMO you need to try other methods before resorting to slimming pills.

So limit your calory intake, cut out whatever crap you eat, do whatever exercise you can. A gp wouldn't prescribe pills if you haven't actually tried other methods to lose weight.

Pick a weight loss plan that works for you (ww/slimming world/ordinary calory counting) and stick to it for a couple of months before resorting to medication.

maybe ill just buy the ones i had, they work out at £7 a week, not so bad, but you have to buy in 6 weeks batches.
