One of dh's close work mates has died of TB - is there any reason to be concerned?

it's a really sad story which I don't want to get into here but the guy dh sat next to in the office has recently passed away and was found to have TB. Dh had the BCG immunisation at school but I didn't. Do I need to be concerned? ie is there a way I could have got infected through dh?

Did the guy that passed away die because of the TB, or was this an incidental infection that he was found to have had? People can carry the TB bacterium without symptoms, and if this is the case, there is probably not much to worry about as the likelihood of someone else contracting the disease is very small.

If he had an active TB infection whilst your dh shared an office with him, your dh should get checked out by his gp if he starts getting any symptoms such as chronic coughing, or other general symptoms of not quite wellness, such as loss of appetite. By all means see a gp if he is worried at all regardless.

I am not a medical doctor BTW, but I know about bacteriology. I hope that this helps and I haven't worried you unduly.

Meant to add that you are unlikely to get infected unless your dh gets symptoms. I think on balance the chances of you being affected are very small.
