mole ceck - what's the best way?

DH has loads of moles on his back, and I've been meaning to sort out some way of getting them checked (it's not like he's ever going to bother..)

Ages ago I saved an ad for the mole clinic, which said Superdrug stores offer this service, but it's £115 for a 45 minute whole body check. Worth it if it picks up something needing attention, but has anyone managed to get a free check done via their GP? It's not like there's a particular mole giving particular concern, I just want him to have them monitored IYSWIM, as there are too many for me to notice if any change shape or colour.

TIA

Can you not just go to your GP and ask them? If you call them I would have htought they'd tell you.

I am sure they would have a look for you/him

I would phone your surgery first and make enquiries. We are lucky that one of the DR's at our surgery is a skin specialist who also works at the dermatology clinic at the hospital so I when I've had moles checked by her I've always felt reassured.

If your gp is just going to to a quick visual check without a dermascope (sp?) it might be worth paying for the mole clinic who will do a full examination

think we'll have try the mole clinic - I rang the GP surgery and they said, in a very resigned jobs-worth voice - if you're not specifically worried about a mole, we can't possibly look at them as it would take far too long....

I can see their point, but there are ways of saying it that don't imply you're a complete time-waster [hmn]
