My neighbor has just been round her daughter is 8.5mo and is teething badly. She says calpol is not doing the trick and is there anything I can recommend to help, I have told her to try some dentinox gel as I found it always worked for DD, or a piece of cold fruit like apple or even an ice lolly.

I remember that when DD was first teething really badly that I was told to give her her calpol then an hour later giver her 2.5ml of the nurofen. I can't for the life of me remember how old DD was so don't want to recommend that my neighbor use the nurofen as well.

Just thought I would check on here to see if anyone can give me any more tips or if anyone knows that the calpol and the nurofen would be okay together for an 8.5mo.

Info on Nurofen

Safe to alternate Calpol and Nurofen

I swore by camomilla - my dd loved the teething powder (although I thought it looked slightly dubious - a teeny tiny slurping up white powder )

Thanks Macdog.

Thanks Playftseforme, I have never heard of camomilla, what is it and where do I get it from.

I used Anbesol liquid with DD1 and DD2. Found it better because it didn't just slide off like gels do. Great for ulcers too.

Camomilla is a homeopathic remedy. I picked up teething powders with it in just at Holland and Barrett. It's supposed to help calm the fretfulness which can go with teething too. I thought it was fab

My DD (14mths) is teething badly and the teething powders I give her are from Boots.

Ashton & Parsons infant powders.

They seem to be the best thing to relieving discomfort TBH.
