urine/water infection - does it cause nausea/dizziness?

Am on antibiotics for urine/water infection but with it (started before taking the antibiotics) I have bad nausea/dizziness. At least once a day the room spins badly and I have to lie on the floor (doesn't help other than being something I can't fall off) - it's worse when I go to bed, but the nausea is almost constant.

Still as bad, if not worse even though I am finishing course of antibiotics today and the infection seems to have cleared.

Wondering if not properly cleared up whether it will flare up again now I won't be taking the antibiotics. Or whether something completely unrelated and will need to go back to gps.

TIA

ShannaraTiger · 08/04/2009 20:50

I would go back to the gp, needs looking into whatever it is.

going back to gps is probably going to be good idea then.

I just hate going to the drs - I seem to have a weird fear of them

I don't know about urine infections but antib's can do wierd things to my body. I get a really upset tummy.

TheArmadillo · 08/04/2009 21:43

yeah maybe it's just teh infection made me feel sick adn then the antibiotics did so there was crossover.

I won't be able to get to drs before it's all closed for the holidays so will see how I feel when back open again.

Thanks both of you

I would go back to GP however I know that I feel dizzy and sick if I don't eat something before taking anti'

nausea/dizziness can be part of a UTI but they can also be caused by a billion other things from low blood pressure to dehydration to labyrinthitis. Be very careful - driving, walking, hanging round at the top of the stairs...

TheArmadillo · 10/04/2009 00:03

If not stopped after bank holiday I will go back.

Was really bad this morning but improved as the day went on - am losing appetite though.

Thanks

i've just got over a really bad UTI ( 3 sets of AB's) and I had several 'spinny' episodes and felt mildly nauseous quite a lot too. First time I have been afflicted with a UTI and it was nasty.

Yes, my mum ended up in hospital at the end of Nov last year with a very bad UTI.
