I found some (about 10) in ds's hair this afternoon. I picked them out one by one as his hair is too fine for the comb that we had but I couldn't find a louce (?), just brown eggs. I'm not sure where the little bugger's gone. I borrowed a better comb from my neighbour and found nothing in ds's hair or mine but I didn't put conditioner through it first. Does it really matter that I didn't?

ARGH!!!!!

TIA

lice will move to get away from light and motion, so unless you wet the hair and put on conditioner to release their grip, they will just move to a different part of the head to the part which you are combing

Seona1973 · 06/04/2009 19:39

the conditioner helps them to stay in one place so that you can get them out with the comb - I would repeat the combing but wet the hair first and apply lots of conditioner

Ahh. So it could still be there? Ds's hair is very, very fine so I thought I'd be able to see something crawling when I looked for the nits. Darn!

I gave my neighbour the comb back. Nothing will hatch if I've picked them out of ds's hair though right? I can pick another one up tomorrow. It's not better to nuke them yes?

Try to get hold of a nitty gritty comb (metal comb with long teeth - it £10 in boots) - its the only thing that works on fine hair

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 06/04/2009 19:45

£10!!!!
You can get a electric zapper for £20! OMG!!!

Buy a comb. Follow the instructions. Repeat every two weeks until your child has left school. Soon you too will be an expert.

Thanks. He's 10 now and not had them since reception so I have no idea really.
