I seem to get period pain in my pelvis and legsrather than my stomach- anyone else?

I have been having periods au naturel for around a year now (after years on the Pill) and have noticed a definite increase in PMT. The strange thing is that the pain I experience for the first couple of days is centred on my pelvic bones and everything between them, and down my inner thighs, rather than the low stomach pain I remember from my teenage period pains. I get a very heavy, dragging feeling, like downward pressure. (Actually I often get the same painful sensation the day after sex.) I have had two CS births and no problems with incontinence or muscle control to speak of.

Does anyone else recognise this?

Yes, pain down my thighs and a heavy dragging feeling in my (ahem) fanjo. Makes it quite painful to sit down.

Strangely though, it has improved since I've used a Mooncup. Achey thighs still, but fanjo pain has gone.

What do people take, if anything, for the horrible draggy pains?

Twinklemegan · 03/04/2009 22:58

I take ibuprofen normally, but I'm not convinced it really works.

I have the draggy feeling in my pelvis as well. I can't walk for long when I have my period as it makes the pain much worse. It only happened after I had my second DC.

I used to get this before DD. Pelvic pains and down the front of my thighs and hip flexors. I had heavy periods before my LO, and they've been fine since.

Luvaduck : My 'history' ? I don't get it, sorry for being thick

I always thought shoulder blade pain was normal

What will the doctor test/do for Endometriosis?

blithedance · 03/04/2009 23:21

Ibuprofen, hot bath, hot water bottle.

I always know when AF due because my legs ache.

luvaduck · 04/04/2009 00:06

sorry claire!!!
just means your symptoms.

don't worry too much. just mention to gp you get shoulder tip pain when menstruating. its not common. if you had severe endometriosis youwould know about it! (and have had problems conceiving.

worth mentioning though. your gp will prob head scratch for a bit.
