havent felt right for months and cant get to the bottom of it even though i have been to the doctors a few times now

ive had constant headaches, pressure feeling in head, nausea , tiredness and at times random ear and face pains. the main problem though was my head.

so, doc sent me to ent but they said my sinuses were perfectly clear, camera in there twice. i have now been given an appointment at neurology.

thing is , unbelievably my head seems to be improving but now im getting stomach pains and the nausea is the worst.

one doctor said i am depressed , but i know im not, its not that.

my gp gave me a blood test which came back fine.
would a blood test (must just av been a routine one) show serious things like cancer???

i am worrying that all these symptoms have an underlying cause such as cancer and its playing on my mind especially the nausea.

Stress? It can cause all those symptoms and you dont have to be depressed to be stressed.

anxiety can cause this but so can chronic benign headache conditions.I had a constant pain in my left eye temple and occasionally cheekbone and ear accompanied by nausea.I was told it was stress but it turned out to be some weird chronic head syndrome which responded to anti inflammatories but could easily recur and require steroids.

does anyone know about blood tests i.e whether they can indicate cancer ?
i know i was tested for thyroid and diabetes etc

In a basic way: a standard set of bloods would probably look at your kidney function, the electrolytes in your blood (things like how much sodium, potassium and calcium), signs of underlying infection, signs of anaemia, possibly your liver function. Most routine blood tests would not 'indicate cancer' in themselves, though were any of the results out of range, that might then lead to further, more specific investigations. You can't just have a blood test 'to test for cancer'.

This website has lots of more specific info about blood tests if you want to investigate in more detail, and know exactly what tests they did.

What's your diet like?

cheeryface · 29/03/2009 20:49

i eat quite healthily really , have some junk here and there but not loads.
since started having these stomach pains i seem to keep seeing things about ovarian cancer and how its a silent killer, got me all worrying that that has been it all along

If your GP can't find anything would you consider a complementary treatment? I think shiatsu or acupuncture would benefit you as if it is emotional or pyschological then these treatemtns can really help. They help with physical things as well of course but all the worrying you have done may have caused a kind of cyclical thing - worry=stress=not sleeping=tiredness=headaches=nausea etc etc.

Very often the muscles in the shoulders/neck and jaw become really tense when we worry and this can lead to tightening in the head/sinus/eye area. Stomach aches can be caused by the intestinal muscles tightening up with stress and the diaphragm becoming tense affecting our breathing. If you are one of these people who thinks it is a load of nonsense then look at this way - every human needs contact - the contact from a shiatsu treatemtn soothes nerve endings, boostes blood supply, relaxes muscles and helps to mobilise the joints.

Hope this helps and hope you feel better soon.

have you been referred to see any form f speciaist yet? If you are having severe reccurent symptoms and GPs can't help you should be referred.

I am not saying you are not stressed etc but it is a bit of a cop out answer.

cheeryface · 31/03/2009 14:13

i have been referred to neurolgy , as that was my main problem, but like i say its now the feeling sick and dodgy stomach thats the worst.

would neurology look at everything or should i go back to gp about the nausea and stomach? if i did that they would probably send me to another department fo that wouldnt they?

Cheery - I have had identical symptoms and I know mine are caused by stress and anxiety. I also had the same symptoms when I got diagnosed by very late onset PND.
Not sure is this helps xx
