I have found out today that I have Polycystic ovaries. I had bllod tests earlier in the week as i only have periods every 3 months or so. The doc is now referring me to a gynocologist for a scan.

Can anyone give me any advice or explain better what Polycystic ovaries is all about please as the doc told me things this morning which I have forgotten!

Thanks

look at [www.verity-pcos.org.uk Verity]] for more info. There's lots of us PCOSers around, so ask away.

i to was diagnosed with PCOS nearly 15 years ago now.

The scan will more than likely be an internal scan so be prepared as i wasnt and was really shocked as i had taken a female friend with me into the room for what i thought was a normal scan like when you have a baby. Then i saw this 'thing'. i politly asked my friend to leave and she was very quick to run out the door lol.

i was placed on medication to make me bleed as i had not had a period for about 9/10 months.

Hi Ladies, thanks for your advice.

Is this something I should be worried about? How do you get it? Would I have had it for many years?

Doc thinks i have it mildly as I dont have excess hair or put on weight but i do get very emotional and depressed at times and also my periods are every 3-4 months. I have had 2 children.

Before I fell pregnant with DD2 I didnt have a period for3 months but still fell pregnant?! (how does that work?) Before I fell pregnant I was due to have a scan for this but then cancelled it as I was pregnant.

How do they treat it?

Thanks for your help!
