Does teething *really* cause a high temperature?

ds3 (6 months) hashad a temp on and pff since saturday and have been giving calpol as appropriate
He has vomitted twice when his temp had spiked. I saw the GP today who checked him over and he seemed fine but wanted to do a urine test to rule out infection (hilarious fun!)#

But the amount of people who have said: 'Oh it will just be his teeth'

DS1 and ds2 'teethed' uneventfully and I am loathed to put every temperature, runny nappy, sniffle down to teething as I don't get the link.

However, I am prepared to be proven wrong....

It coud be a vague virus?

Ds was okay with the old teeth, but I did see my friend's kids really poorly, so I think it happens.

My first teethed very eventfully - always a high temp, always knocked out by it. Not really a peep out of my 2nd when she teethed. So, yes, it can, in my experience

It's all new to me ds3 is so chilled and laid back compared to the other two (except he is identical to ds2 in terms of sleep )
His tooth has brken the gum today though so maybe....
Talking of teeth, the tooth fairy needs to deliver some pennies to ds1 who swallowed his wobbly tooth in the night last night.....
