Really achey legs/hips, any advice?

Hi I had this when I was pregnant, but it seems to have returned. I have really achey legs/hips - sort of right in the joints and very restless. It's got to the point now where it's hard to sleep.

God I sound like a right old dear.

Anyway does anyone have any advice? I was thinking of trying something like Cod Liver Oil or Glucosomine (sp??) to see if that helped.

I'm not pregnant now btw.

Thanks

How long is it since you were pregnant? Just wondering if it was a form of SPD as I had it when pregnant and it used to come back every time AF came since.

have you tried sleeping on your side with a pillow between your knees??

i have something similar since last pregnancy and it has def helped.

may be some form of bursitis

Thanks queenfee and luvaduck. It's been 19 months since dd2 was born - surely too long to be related to that? Or is your dc a similar age queenfee?. What's bursitis luvaduck?

I've just been to the chemists and had a chat with the pharmacist, he has recommended some Magnesium powder. So I'll be trying that and Fish oil for a few weeks to see if that helps. Otherwise he said you can get new drug from the the doc if it gets bad.

Hope that helps anyone in a similar state. x

I get aches in my joints (usually hips, but sometimes other bones too), and have done for years (both before and after babies, but not particularly when I was pregnant that I recall). I've been told it is hormonal. I just use a hot water bottle and take neurofen if I can't sleep. I always worries me, because my mother is very arthritic, so raises the possibility that I've inherited it (although there is statistically not that much of a hereditary link). Is SPD something you can have when not pregnant? Is it something to be worried about (progressive?) or treat?

no bursitis is just an inflammation of any joint - the bursa is a fluid filled sac that surrounds any joint.

in the hip you can get trochenteric bursitis that is painful on the outer part of your thigh, over the bone in the hip joint. you can get a low grade version - not as severe as described here

Ouch. I used to work with a pelvic reconstructive expert - that sounds like significant metalwork you've got there!
