Like this ?

How did you find it and did it help you to strenghten your pevic floor?

Oh well, I've ordered one anyway!

I was given one by my phsyio a couple of weeks ago and it has changed the way I do the exercises. I don't think I was doing them right before (as judged by the educator!). It's probably too soon to comment on the effectiveness though!

Just tried mine for the first time.

I can only get the stick to move about 1" at best It doesn't say how far we should be able to move it - did your physio give you any idea?

I was given one by my physio to use to omrove my pelvic floor muscles. I had been doing my exercsie correctly - but it certainly helped focus the effort so to speak.

There was a lot of imporvement when I next went to see her.

I really should get it out and use it again, just to remind myself!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 27/03/2009 20:13

So how far could you get the stick to move???!

Iwishiwas...what do you do with it and how does it work? I have been trying to stengthen mine with exercises but not sure if I'm doing them right.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 27/03/2009 20:31

Basically you insert the plastic bit like you would a tampon (but not as far) and squeeze your pelvic floor muscles.

The stick should move down if you're doing them right i.e. contracting the right muscles in the right way. If it moves up then you're not doing them right.

It shows you how strong your contraction is and how long you can maintain it for - in my case both are worse than I thought

Thanks, bloody hell I don't think I'd even be able to grab hold of the stick with mine, the thing would fall out, do they make them in extra wide?

Is that all it is a plastic stick? Could one not improvise with a pen or something!?

I really need to get a grip, as it were, and sort my pelvic floor out. Its becoming a nightmare.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 27/03/2009 21:14

Have a look at the link in my opening post! The stick bit sticks out of a bigger plastic part which is the bit that you insert!

Get gripping hairymuff!

Oh I thought it was the long thin bit you inserted! I was gonna say, no chance here!

Have to make sure the window cleaner doesn't do his rounds while you're in the middle of the exercises

Will be interested to hear if you think it makes a difference, I will watch this thread so keep us updated.

LEmum · 27/03/2009 21:37

I think I can move it about an inch too. Nothing too dramatic anyway! When I tried it with the physio it moved less but she seemed happy that I could move it at all. I guess as long as it's moving your doing the exercises right so keep at it.

absentminded · 28/03/2009 10:10

Hairy you have me in stitches!! I can so identify with your thinking. I thought the thin bit went in too! I have been offered an op to sort out my prolapse and am trying to avoid it at ALL costs! I have started doing pilates to see if that helps. Love the idea of a credit crunching pen version of a pelvic florr toner!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 29/03/2009 21:07

Well I had a good go today while I had a bit of peace and quiet!

Can only move it about 1" but I can do 10 "quick pulls" and about 3 squeeze and holds but I can only hold it for about 4 seconds

I really will have to make an effort to keep working at this!
