what a delightful mental image that one is mp !

beachyhead · 20/04/2005 13:14

Whats a Keeper?????

I'm amazed that we only spent £90 a year on sanitary protection according to that website - I'm sure its more than that.

Can we start a petition to get all protection free or on prescription, including mooncups, sponges, whatever??????

NomDePlume · 20/04/2005 13:21

TBH, I'd rather NHS money got spent on medication and treatment for those who need it, or to shorten the waiting times for ops than to stock up my tampon stock.

gingerbear · 20/04/2005 13:21

American version of a mooncup, but brown rubber not clear silicone.

gingerbear · 20/04/2005 13:23

Who was it left her mooncup on a hotel bedside table??

psychomum5 · 20/04/2005 13:25

Tis Flame not Psychomum

I used to use sea pearls and they were great, except that they only last about 3 1/2 hours max before they need squeezing out.

Soaking them in tea tree oil sterilises them.

why oh why would you want to wash sanitary things. I will stick to lilets thankyou. Although I am curious whites or coloureds wash!!

sweetkitty · 20/04/2005 13:51

ShockShockShock

PrettyCandles · 20/04/2005 14:20

If you have to replace them every 3-6m then I don't see that they're particularly cost-efficient. I'll keep my Mooncup thankyou.

Have to say I'm puzzled that any of us, after more than half a lifetime of periods plus however many nappy-changes, possets, vomits and potty-trainings, should have any problems washing menstrual gear. What's the big deal?

NomDePlume · 20/04/2005 14:21

the smell is the main issue for me.

dyzzidi · 20/04/2005 14:27

The thought of it makes me feel sick. Sorry ladies it may work for some of you but I am too squeamish to use them.

NomDePlume · 20/04/2005 14:27

Oh, and the thought of squeezing/rinsing it out in the sink where I brush my teeth.

dyzzidi · 20/04/2005 16:34

My DP would probably locate clean ones in the cupboard to wash his face with

PsychoFlame · 20/04/2005 16:38

They don't smell like sanitary towels or tampons do... I guess it must be the reaction to whatever is in the tampons etc.

It isn't more cost efficient than a mooncup, but is more than normal tampons etc.

Squeezing out etc... I prefer blood to poo... much more easy to deal with . I have no problem with a nosebleed, so no issues with other blood.

dyzzidi · 20/04/2005 16:41

I heave when changing nappies although my mum says when it's your own child its different. My nephew laughs and make bbleeeghhh noises when I say come on lets change your nappy and he is only 15 month old!!

I am also sick if i someone else is sick in the room which is quite embarassing.

God I am such a girl!!!!!
