Sudden absent periods, NOT pregnant - what's wrong?!

I've only had 1 period this year. I was due on 16th Jan, came on 1st Feb and haven't had one since coming off that period.

I'm not pregnant.
I had normal pelvic scan results.
I had normal hormonal blood results.

I'm 23 and worrying my socks off. Feel really scared because I was planning to start a family later on in the year.

GP told me it's just the way my body is at the minute and to leave it to settle but can't help worrying and thinking they're fobbing me off.

Any advice?

are you under weight?

ninah · 22/03/2009 21:20

stress? change of diet? it's always when you are worrying about getting one that you are late, or miss I find

Elaineee · 22/03/2009 21:23

I was worrying myself stupid the week after my last one, so could be stress. Not underweight. I have a general level of stress permanently. The only illness related thing I have is a bad tooth abccess I've not had taken out yet, she gave me some antibiotics which I finished a week ago. The only thing is my Jan one was absent, got it in Feb and haven't had one since so seems to have started before the tooth problem...

get thyroid checked. can cause all sorts of buggered up things

Elaineee · 22/03/2009 22:03

Just looked up thyroid underactive and it was a tick list for me at the minute. Couldn't help noticing feeling like my legs were weak when exercising and like just not got any energy in my muscles, no periods, really dry skin, feel like i can't focus etc.

Would thyroid not be checking in hormone blood tests though?

sorry I lost the thread for a bit
no it's not the same as hormone tests - it is in the routine blood test but get your GP to sort it - really easy. Could get a FBC done at the same time just to check you'/re not anaemic or anything too
Good luck - and make an appointment asap.
