my dh had his op and went back to work the next day however he did have to rturn home as he was alot sorer than he was expecting.
He was fine looking after the children, walking etc the only thing he found uncomfortable was driving as his erm whats the correct word oh yea tesitcles had swollen very large.

You dont say how old the children were but at thetime my dh had his op mine were 5 months, 2, 7, 9. Both of us had to make sure the children didnt jump onto his lap.

My dh was fine and its the best thing he feels he has ever had done. no pregnancy scares so can have a less worrying sex life (wink)

He should be ok to look after the DCs onthe Monday, just don't let them jump on him or his face will go this colour ->

My DH had his done on a Friday and was OK to help with the kids on Monday; the only thing he struggled with was lifting them, as he was quite sore. He was back to work on Wednesday though with no problems and he has a really physical job.

DH had his on a wednesday night and was back to work on the Friday. Very little bruising or pain. He took ibuprofen and paracetamol the day after the snip but was alright. He said the worst bit was the itching when hair grew back and me telling him all the vasectomy horror stories from the blokes at work.

friends dh had the op fri am and was picking up his children fri pm

took 20mins under a local

he said he felt like he had elephant balls, and was a bit funny to watch him walk but felt fine

tbh he took it like a man, he could have REALLY complained and moaned about the pain, and neither me or his dw could have said he was putting it on, as OBV we havent got balls and wouldnt know the pain

just as he didnt know the pain of childbirth

that all sounds very encouraging - thank you all!
be interesting to stop the kids jumping on him. the 18 month old does what she likes and the 3 year old is hit and miss...

He will be up to it.

A rest on the sofa when he gets home, quiet night and then he should be fine.

He might make a meal of it though....

nikkid21 · 22/03/2009 16:29

He should be fine. DH had it done Thursday evening and we went for a bike ride on the Saturday with no problems.

FigmentOfYourImagination · 22/03/2009 16:31

My mate's DH had it done recently. He suffered reasonably badly (considering) and was still in pain 7 days afterwards. However, the majority of men are able to return to normal life within 24/48hrs

wotnopulling · 22/03/2009 18:49

starting to wonder why i didn't have it done sooner! do you all recommend it or is that a silly question?!
