had ds2 17 weeks ago and my hair has really started to fall out. when i brush it LOADS comes out. not clumps but lots of loose hairs. during the day i find loads all over my top and even on ds's

ive noticed a little bald patch on side of my temple. with ds1 alot fell out and hair went very thin around both temples. I dont remember this much coming out though. Is there anything i can do to stop it or help my bald patch??

I don't know how much is "normal" but I have had similar experiences (with dd2 not dd1)

dd2 is now 19 months and I have been losing hair since she was about 3 months. It has slowed down a bit but every time I brush, run hands through it etc I get a few strands. I have to de-hair the shower plug hole every couple of days. Hoovering the area where I dry my hair brings up loads of hair off the carpet.

My hairdresser reckons the loss has slowed down a bit the last couple of months and has started to re grow. I have very thick hair so didn't have a bald patch but she noticed several areas where it had thinned.

It's irritating, I feel loose hairs tickling my neck or inside my top, and I have to tie it back for cooking.

it will stop - it will start to grow back. Lack of sleep and stress increase the hair loss as well, so sleeping more (HAH! yes, I know ) and less stress will help.

My hair didn't drop for ages after DS was born and then it felt like it was all coming out at once - but by the time he was 6mo it had settled down.

Years ago I thought I was getting a receding hair line when I was going through a very stressful period of my life, and was losing loads of hair then as well - but when I became less stressed, it did grow back.

That's interesting thumbwitch. dd1 slept really well. Her sister is a little more wakeful at night, plus in my case I am more stressed.

I had this really badly with DS2 and not as badly with DS1.

Hair loss began being very noticable at about 4months, DS2 now 9months and hair loss is as it was pre-pregnancy (haven't had to unclog the shower for a couple of weeks ). Regrowth began properly at around 7months, but like OP I had bald patches at both temples and my entire hairline had receeded by about 1cm. My hair is still thinner in these areas than on the rest of my head, but (I am assured by DH and my Mum) it is not something that others can notice.

I've had it horrendously with both my babies. With my first child it went on for a year. It was beyond 'losing the hair that didn't fall out when pregnant' (apparently quite normal)- my once thick hair definitely thinned around the hairline and I was clogging up the shower something rotten. It went back to normal after about a year. My second child is now 17 wks old and I am still losing loads of hair. Noticed the thinning around the hairline again, too, and it looks as if I am receding a bit (although cleverly disguised by fringe!). Argh! Hope it sorts itself out again soon

Mine has beencoming out for 3 months now and shows no sign of slowing. I'm hoiking hanks of it out of the plughole after every shower and the carpet where I dry my hair needs hoovering regularly. Its vile. But it does stop ... usually before complete baldness sets in.
