Having a tooth removed - what's the recovery like ?

I've got to have one of my back top teeth removed (think it's the last normal tooth before the wisdom tooth). My dentist said not to do any sports or housework (!) afterwards because of the blood loss. It's got me thinking to what the recovery will be like. Are you normally ok the next day?

I also have to have a wisdom tooth removed

I've had all my wisdom teeth out and another one as well. I found the bleeding stopped after about 30 min. I felt a bit yucky for the rest of the day tbh - if you can either take the day off or have someone else lookgin after your children that would be good (DH looked after children while I was having the tooth out but the rest of the day was up to me, which was not the best way to spend the day).

I was fine the next day though.

he told you not to do housework sounds like my kind of dentist

it's not so bad, don't smoke or use a straw for a few days afterwards or you could dislodge the clot.

I felt a bit woozy and in shock for about 12 hours after having one of my back teeth out, but then basically OK. It didn't particularly hurt and I just took Nurofen at bedtime just in case.
BUT I was amazed the next day when I did some gardening and suddenly it really started aching. Then the next day when I did a bit of housework the same thing happened, so the dentist is not joking when he says take it easy!

I had the last one before my (non-existent) wisdom teeth removed under sedation. Sedated because there was an underlying infection which they couldn't get rid of and was preventing the local anaesthetic from working. They gave me a valium (I think) and I crashed out for a few hours when I got home but then just felt slightly fragile for a few days. Neurofen were my friends. The valium was bloody marvellous too
