what do they look like in a kids hair?
there are small black spots on the scalp, but no itching, no movement and had them for ages.

just got a letter from school to say they are going round.

never had them, dont know what they look like, but dont think that we have them.

(DS spends tons of time in the garage with DH, so i thought it was specks of oil from there...just wondering because of letter.)

Nits are the eggs - they can be clear or brown and look like little specks. They don't move and are usually stuck to the hair shaft near to the scalp. They are often found around the ears and at the nape of the neck. Picture here

Lice are the actual creatures and can be seen crawling - they don't jump (contrary to popular belief!) and crawl from head to head. They can vary in size and can be tiny and hardly visible, through to larger and immediately obvious.

The best way to find them is by wet combing with a proper nit comb.

The eggs are white and stick onto the hair shaft. You know they aren't dandruff or fluff because if you flick them they don't fall off - they are glued on there!

The nits themselves tend to be clear or sometimes are dark and sesame seed like. They have legs too! If you use a nit comb they can be teensy weensy teardrop shaped specks (sometimes you can see the legs if you look closely). Not everyone itches - it is a reaction to their saliva that causes the itching.

ive just google imaged them, and i really dont think that he has them.
The little black specks rub off with a bit of shampoo and there are defo not moving, stuck or have legs.

i dont mind but it has saved me £11-£15 on treatment thats all... The stuff is SO expensive. Im not going to treat it unecisarily.

thanks all xx
