Hi - I seem to be tired and picking up infections from time to time. I am a working mum with 3 kids under 5 - anyone else feel like this!!!! We get zero family support so its me and DH that do everything. Just worried that I am the only one, moan moan.......

OMG 3 children under 5! I have 2 under 5 and work too. Feel better than i used to now they are a bit older ( 3 and 4)but i remember going to the doctor a couple of times feeling exhausted and sure there was something wrong with me. The doctor told me both times that i was just doing too much.

OMG 3 under 5!! I agree with saramoon...thats hard! I have 3yr old and 2yr old...13mths apart and it has only just got easier! I also work more or less full time and have two big dogs to walk.NO FAMILY OR FRIENDS SUPPORT EITHER(even though helped everyone else out!)...bitter or what??!!
Going back a year I felt exactly like you..knackered..stressed with work..kids..choosing right nurseries..remember dentist and doctors app...peoples birthdays...xmas was just another chore!....running house..being good wife! I'm telling you..I felt brain dead and like I was running on empty...plus I forever had a cold, cough, sore throat...etc etc. Also started getting panic attacks and health anxiety.
Then I just started chilling out..made myself count to ten everytime it got stressful and asked myself whats the worse that can happen. I stopped helping everyone else out. I stopped being so anal about housework..well abit(find it a bit of a stress release too be honest.
Then I started going for a run..most nights just 20 minutes..ipod on and I hated it at first..I thought I was too tired to do it..but I find now that I am almost hyper active at night from the buzz of exercise..like I'm channeling the stress. Plus I felt like for 20minutes aday I was doing something for ME...ME ME ME...which before I used to feel gulity about. Even now..I lay PJ's out on bed and run bath for kids so when DH gets home he knows where he's at while I run.
But it's all very well your DR saying your doing too much..but if you stop the washing one day...it still mounts up!!

Moral of my story...just take 20 minutes for you everyday.
Plus once you've had dinner..close the kitchen..switch TV off and go to bed and sleep. I go to bed at 9.30 sometimes..I know if I have couple of late nights or kids have woke up in night or got up at 6...I turn into a very unlikeable person in the mornings.
My hubby has noticed a massive change in me this last year...for the better....not sure about extra jobs that I pass him though!!!
I also have learnt to enjoy the kids more. I used to find the kids wining around me when I was making tea or hoovering up...so I just stopped and started making camps and setting up games for them..played a bit and then told them i needed to finish tea and I'd play after...made all the difference. 10 minutes of kid time just so I can get on with stuff..not much of a scarifice.
I still get stressed..I still get tired..I'm still tiny bit bitter about no one offering help even when at my wits end last year but I recognise the signs and have a word with myself.
Please take time for you...because no one else will!!! x

I have one and don't work and am knackered!
I don't think you are alone...

I've been there, and am thankfully out of it. When my 3rd DS was born (after DT's) I spent about 6 months on antibiotics, for various forms of throat infection (laryngitis, pharyngitis etc - in fact if it ended in itis I had it!).

Have you a sympathetic doctor - mine was great and prescribed me antibiotics to keep at home which I could then take as soon as I felt something coming on. I had check ups with her monthly, plus blood tests, and went to see an ENT specialist as well. Try and get your GP on side, don't suffer in silence.
Nothing serious was ever discovered, I was just knackered and run down.

I also went to a homeopath which certianly helped in that I got to spend a long time talking to someone about how bloody awful I felt without them looking at their watch! She also prescribed me stuff, and I took vitamins like there was no tomorrow.

Easier said than done, and I know how depressing it can be, but try and find some time for yourself (early bath once a week, with a drink and a book did it for me), or a walk, or out to a friend for a coffee.

It doesn't seem like it now, but it will get better, and hopefully with some better spring weather it will cheer you up - god knows we all need to see a bit of sunshine.

Oh yes, lol at doctor saying you're doing too much Saramoon. I hurt my leg and was told to rest it for a week - no driving, no running about, just put it up and rest! Ha bloody ha!! Of course it took weeks to fix because nobody with children can just put their leg up or stop "doing too much"!

Does this sound wacky? I gave up caffeine. I have toddler twins, which is tiring of course, but I found myself actually having to lie down on the sofa mid-afternoon while they watched a DVD. Dunno what gave me the idea that caffeine was to blame but it really does seem to have made a difference.
