hypnosis to cure fear of flying?

I was just wondering if anyone has tried this and is it effective? DH wants us to go to Ireland. I feel sick at the thought of long turbulent ferry crossing and equally fearful of flying. I haven't flown in nearly 6 years as phobia has got the better of me.
Like to hear of similar experiences, thanks

I tried it and it didnt work for me, but Im sure its worked for lots of people and might for you so no harm in trying. I also tried CBT, drugs, alcohol, allan carr's book (which is actually very good and I still think of bits of it now).
Im much better than I was and can now fly without making a complete arse of myself. I had a bit of a life changing experience which made me think that flying (or indeed crashing) really was nothing compared to what some people go through.
I am still apprehensive but can relax and enjoy a meal and read on a plane now instead of sitting there in absolute terror.
I hope you get it sorted, I know how miserable it can make you, it ruins every holiday

i havent flown in 21 years, It is more than a fear it is a massive phobia that i really can not get over.
Any ideas for me to overcome my irrational fear would be gratefully welcombed as my dad is moving to spain in a couple of months.

My best friend's dad swears by hypnosis for flying. He has to go for a session every two or three years but can fly without too much fuss now.

I am considering this myself as I want to be able to go abroad without sitting on a choppy ferry for 12 hours! I flew to Dublin last year and was hyperventilating at the thought of stepping on the plane! Not a nice feeling.

Ditto my best friend's teenage son - worked for him. He laughed through a landing that was one of the worst and scariest I have ever experienced (and I used to fly a lot on business!).

However, only lasted for that holiday - seems to need topping up every so often

Thanks, may look into hypnotherapy. Interestingly I have done the Alan Carr book - which was very good and did get me through my last flight to czech rep. Think my fears became too much for this!
