Hello. I have had a major toothache since yesterday. It is SO painful, I have felt sick and dizzy from it. Never had it like this before - what can I do? I am pregnant too which doesn't help on the painkiller front. I have taken paracetamol but it isn't doing much. PLEASE recommend something to help ease the pain!!

I think the cause might be my gums rather than teeth? How do I tell? The pain is all along the bottom left side of my mouth and it is now starting to hurt at the top too, but no where near as bad.

Going to try salt water - how much do I use? Was thinking about making up a jug and rinsing everytime I go to the bathroom? I have done my teeth a few times today as it seems to help very slightly.

Clove oil is good. I tried actually sucking dried cloves as I didn't have any oil. Not very nice taste but it can relieve the pain somewhat.

Also, I know this is a bit disgusting but, at times when it has got that bad, I have cut the gum with my nail and then you can suck out the poison and spit it out..I know..ewwww an all that, but when you're desperate!

Dh has a brilliant one too. Rinse your mouth with scotch! Hold it in your mouth for a good minute and swish it around. Up to you if you then swallow or spit. Hope something in there helps. The scotch is the best one imo.
Good luck to you.

I don't think clove oil is suitable for pregnancy though? I googled it and it had a lot of warnings so thought it probably wasn't a good idea?

oh, sorry, i didn't realise the pg bit
In that case i suppose best not to try that.

I'd give the scotch mouth wash a try then. Just don't swallow it it really does numb the pain. Obviously not a long term solution but it could get you through the night easier.

Have found some vodka - would that help? Not to drink obviously!
