Pregnant with fibromyalgia, please help

I am 41 and am around 9 weeks pg with my second child.

I am feeling DREADFUL. I can barely scrape myself out of bed in the morning and then the fatigue takes over. I have help, so cannot blame it all on looking after an active toddler whilst being pregnant. I constantly feel like I am beginning to get flu, those horrible muscular aches. It's an effort to sit and an effort to stand! I thought I was anaemic so got tested, I am on the borderline so am taking Spatone but it has not helped.

I just wondered of any other fibromyalgia stricken mums had the same experience when pregnant and what happened? With my first baby I suffered from morning sickness but the tiredness was nothing like this and I had the fibro back then!

I do not have fibromyalgia - but I felt EXACTLY how you describe at nine weeks pregnant while looking after a toddler (and even worse in this pregnancy looking after three under fives...)

I've always started to feel better by about twelve weeks, so I hope it will be the same for you. Just get as much help from other people as you can for now and try and get some fresh air when you can (that always seems to help me).

mersmam - that is SO reassuring, thank you for replying. I keep waiting for the fatigue to go, maybe it's like morning sickness and will diminish at 12-14 weeks. Kudos to you for the three under fives!

My SIL had very same as you describe Doggus, while it's not what you might want to do she was prescribed "cipramil" which seemingly is a form of antidepreeant but in smaller doses is a 'fibro easer'... she told me also that a hormone "relaxin" is present in the blood from about 5mths & takes over the drug by allowing the fibro go into a kind of remission... I know, I know, imagine taking drugs in preg, but the doc was well informed & they discussed it together & felt the benefits outweighed their risks, spoke to her there earlier on ph, she & baby both doing well, baby passing all his milestones! Take care!!

Sall - thank you so much for this. I have heard of cipramil and will go and see the GP. I am now hoping my relaxin levels kick in sooner than 5 months! Another GP told me that fibro gets easier in pregnancy and indeed my last one was a relative breeze. Please wish your SIL the best from one sufferer to another.
