I would appreciate some advise-I have an appointment to c the doc pm, came back from Tenerife-a chap smashed into us on the M56- not sleeping at all well, trying to function- still working etc, but this am bent over to go in the shower and this worm emerged from you know where! It's about 8-9cm long and looks like a garden worm. I have 3 sprogs + DH will we all need treating? was it a tape worm? Did i pick it up on my hols? Frightened of going now. Help!

they were like noodles

my husband said she ate the left overs we had. i doubted him at the time. god I am so bloody worried now!

because most of them can't harm humans - I think it's only the roundworm that can infect humans and even then, you don't get roundworms like you would if you had ingested a 'human' roundworm (it's a different parasite, the dog and cat roundworm) so I don't think you have anything to worry about

must remember to wor her again. Can we not worm ourselves??

foxinsocks · 15/04/2005 17:27

I honestly wouldn't worry ....most worms are picked up from food that's not cooked properly. If you've got no symptoms then I really wouldn't worry - those anti worm treatments can really play havoc with your tummy.

actually just having a brief read of the vet stuff on roundworm, you can pick it up but it doesn't infest the intestine - so you would never get actual worms. So you should be fine!

here's the dog and cat roundworm thing and how it affects humans....roundworms from cats and dogs

It's a completely different parasite to the roundworm that gets into the human intestine and sits there.

Can I ask any worm experts to post on this thread here .... we were discussing killing slugs in the garden but we are now on the 'chopping an earthworm in half - two worms or one dead one' question.

Thanks
