I seem to remember someone telling me that children don't get this - ever. Is this true?

I don't know about younger children but my 10 year old had antibiotics for it a couple of months ago, it was horrid for her, really painful

of course children can get this! My dd1 had it when she was two years old and half of her face swelled up, and she had a very high temperature. It was treated with antibiotics.

Who told me they couldn't... ? someone I know... ? probably someone on MN!

I was wondering because DS said he had a sore face and I thought it was this - then this piece of infop popped into my head. He was fine btw - just copying me (I had it a week ago and must have been whinging!)

the day before dd1's face swelled up, she had a high temperature, her nose and brow were sensitive to touch and she had a small amount of very brown snot. I knew this was sinusitus, but unfortunately the doctor didn't, and it was only the nex day when her face was swollen and she was in a lot of pain that sinusitus was diagnosed.

That sounds terrible - poor little thing. It's bad enough when you are an adult and can take the max strength pain killers.

DS1 is 9 and had a mild bout, i recognised it cos I had it often as a child and still get it now.
I got him junior Sudafed syrup from the chemist, was really good.

It can be difficult to diagnose in children, my ds was 8 and it took an MRI scan and over 6 months to diagnose it. He was having headaches in the morning and just generally unhappy and bad breath.
